The Rascals: 8/7/1988

The Miami Metrozoo was a pretty cool place to go see a concert. You could get there early, check out the cage-free exhibits, and then catch a show at the bandstand, sitting on the lush open lawn. When I heard that The Rascals were playing there, with Felix Cavaliere, I figured I would have to go.

What stands out for me about this concert was just how much fun it was. The Rascals had so many hits, and they played everything that I wanted to hear: “Good Lovin’,” “I Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore,” “Groovin’,” “People Got To Be Free,” “You Better Run,” “How Can I Be Sure,” “A Beautiful Morning,” “A Girl Like You.” It was a wonderful afternoon of dancing and singing along to those songs that were a part of my youth.

Kind of crazy to think that this was 30 years ago that I saw this show. It was $10 well spent.

Groovin’, on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn’t get away too soon
